It's Official: We have a Celebrity for a President

This morning on NBC's "Today" program, I happened to catch an exchange between the host and a guest who were discussing, what they referred to as, the "Obama Effect," where-in everything that the Obamas do or buy, or promote even slightly, becomes a huge success, like where they eat or the products they buy, etc. They said he had even surpassed Oprah, in this regard. The host said it was because Obama was truly the first president who was a real "celebrity." He said this with a sense of awe and admiration, like all past presidents were some how failures because they had never reached this stature. How thrilling for us all. I only wish our celebrity-in-chief would take some time out of his busy schedule of product endorsements and solve some of the minor problems we seem to be experiencing, like our economy being in the crapper, near double digit unemployment and rogue nations on the verge of becoming nuclear powers - little things like that.
