What his administration is finally starting to understand is that this election is more a referendum on his policies, especially the Health Care Bill. The People had no recourse up to this point, as Obama pals Pelosi and Reid rammed through legislation that the majority of the American public doesn’t want. However, the first opportunity the public realized they had the ability to throw a monkey wrench into the works, they did - and, in a State that has been Blue for a long time. My friends, that says something.
Even if the GOP candidate, Scott Brown, doesn’t prevail, it will probably be a very close election. His poll numbers went from having a thirty point deficit against Coakley, to at worst being in a dead heat, and at best - as some polls indicate - to having a four point lead, all in a matter of weeks. That also says something. And, the Dems heard it loud and clear.
But, did the Obama administration listen to the public outcry and try to reassess that maybe, just maybe, they needed to relook at the Health Care Bill, maybe even be more forth coming and transparent by opening up the secret closed-door negotiations or maybe even start listening to the opposition and make a bi-partisan compromise of some sort? Not even close.
Their next step is to try to circumvent the normal process, in fear that a win in Massachusetts would lose their sixty vote majority, by hatching a plan that would by-pass a Congressional vote by convincing the House to accept the Senate version of the Bill, thus negating a vote for it in the Senate. That would allow them to send it immediately to Obama’s desk to be signed.
Let’s face it. It has become patently obvious that this administration doesn’t care one iota for the will of the People, believing we are either too naïve or too dumb to make decisions for ourselves and that they know best. They are hell bent on passing their agendas, no matter what the cost, even if it means driving us into bankruptcy. It’s time for a wake up call. It’s time to send this administration a clear message that this nation is still governed by, and for, the PEOPLE, not some power hungry, progressive ideologues, hell bent on reshaping this nation in THEIR image, rather than how the founding fathers envisioned it.
